About Porto Formoso
Porto Formoso is a small parish on the north coast of São Miguel, in the Ribeira Grande municipality, known for Moinhos Beach — a golden-sand cove with a stream, waterfall and restored old watermills. The village is also home to one of Europe's only two operating tea factories (Chá Porto Formoso), where you can visit the plantation and taste Azorean black tea, produced continuously since 1883.
