About Ponta Delgada
Ponta Delgada is the largest city in the Azores and the administrative capital of the Autonomous Region, on the south coast of São Miguel. The historic centre is defined by the Portas da Cidade — three 18th-century basalt arches — the São Sebastião Main Church, the seafront Forte de São Brás and the marina. From here depart excursions to Sete Cidades, Furnas, Lagoa do Fogo and cetacean-watching trips in the channel. Also visit the Carlos Machado Museum and try Azorean pineapple and São Jorge cheese.
