About Vila Nova de Milfontes

Vila Nova de Milfontes is a town in the Odemira municipality, Beja district, at the mouth of the River Mira, right inside the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. The 17th-century São Clemente Fort watches over the river bar, and the beaches of Franquia, Farol and Furnas (on the south bank) are among the most beautiful in the Alentejo. It is a stop on the Rota Vicentina Fishermen's Trail and a favourite destination for kayaking on the Mira, surfing and walks along the wild coast.
