About Lagos
Lagos is one of the Algarve's most historic cities, former kingdom capital in the 16th century and the departure point of the caravels of the Portuguese Discoveries. Its walled centre holds the Church of Santo António — one of Portugal's most beautiful baroque churches — and the former Slave Market, the first of its kind in Europe, now a memorial. The coastline features dream beaches such as Dona Ana, Camilo and Ponta da Piedade, with golden cliffs and sea caves reached by boat or kayak. The 4 km Meia Praia stretches all the way to Alvor.
