About Água de Pau
Água de Pau is a parish in the Lagoa municipality, on São Miguel's south coast, known for Caloura — a tiny fishing harbour with tide pools carved into the lava, seaside terraces and wineries producing Verdelho wine in stone-walled basalt currais. The Nossa Senhora da Proteção hermitage, the Ponta da Galera viewpoint and walking trails down the slopes of Serra de Água de Pau round out the picture. It is one of the island's most tranquil and gastronomically rich stops.
