Água de Pau is a parish on the south coast of São Miguel, in the municipality of Lagoa — the village slopes gently between green hillsides and the Atlantic, with hydrangeas lining the lanes and pastures reaching almost to the sea. Its position between Ponta Delgada and the town of Lagoa makes it a peaceful waypoint on an island of extraordinary volcanic landscapes.
