About Ferragudo

Ferragudo is a picturesque fishing village on the east bank of the Arade River, in the Lagoa municipality, directly opposite Portimão. Its cobbled lanes and whitewashed houses tumble down to the quay in one of the most photographed corners of the Algarve. The village is watched over by the 17th-century São João do Arade Fort, restored by the poet Coelho de Carvalho. Praia Grande, Praia do Molhe and Praia da Angrinha — all right by the village — combine the sea, fishing traditions and great local food.
