About Almada
Almada is a city on the south bank of the Tagus, directly across from Lisbon, dominated by the Cristo Rei statue — a 110-metre monument inspired by Rio de Janeiro's Christ the Redeemer. The Ponte 25 de Abril suspension bridge connects Almada to the capital. The municipality's Atlantic coast includes the vast Costa da Caparica beach strip and the small fishing community of Cova do Vapor, with views of the Tagus bar and the Bugio lighthouse. Cacilhas, the historic ferry terminal, offers some of the best views of Lisbon's skyline.
