Fajã do Ouvidor is one of the most emblematic fajãs of São Jorge — coastal platforms formed by ancient lava and landslide flows that created fertile ledges at the foot of the island's towering cliffs. Accessible only by a steep path, the fajã preserves an almost unchanged traditional way of life, with small kitchen gardens, vineyards and an endless view over the Atlantic. The contrast between the sheer rock walls above and the serenity of the platform at sea level is one of the most memorable experiences in the Azores.
