Cinfães stretches from the banks of the Douro river up to the high Serra de Montemuro, across one of the most varied landscapes in northern Portugal. Mountain villages such as Gralheira keep their traditional pastoral life alive, the Bestança river runs through unspoilt valleys and the local cuisine — most famously oven-roasted kid and lamb — is reason enough to visit. A border municipality between the North and Centre regions, where the mountains lean over the Douro.
